Google, amerykańska firma z branży internetowej oraz Motorola, ogłosiły dzisiaj o zawarciu umowy, na mocy której ta pierwsza przejmie kontrolę nad znanym amerykańskim producentem telefonów komórkowych – Motorola Mobility.
Łączna wartość transakcji wyniosła 12,5 miliarda dolarów. Motorola Mobility, to firma telekomunikacyjna powstała w wyniku podziału Motoroli. Producent za pierwszy kwartał 2011 roku zwiększył sprzedaż telefonów komórkowych – łącznie z 8,5 do 9,3 mln, w tym smartfonów z 2,3 do 4,1 mln urządzeń. Z informacji prasowych, jakie podano do mediów wynika, że marka Motoroal nadal będzie funkcjonować, jednak zarządzać nią będzie Google. Nowy nabytek koncernu z Mountain View w Kalifornii ma wesprzeć Androida i jego system. Google zapewnia, że Android pozostanie otwartą platformą. Warto dodać, ze obecnie na całym świecie działa ponad 150 milionów urządzeń mobilnych opartych o platforme Google Android.
Sfinalizowanie transakcji oczekiwane jest na przełomie 2011 i 2012 roku. Transakcja jeszcze musi uzyskać zgody regulatorów, przede wszystkim w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Unii Europejskiej.

Apple oraz Microsoft stale pozywają giganta internetowego w obszarze technologii smartfonów. Ich celem jest głównie stworzony przez Google system operacyjny na te urządzenia – Android. Teraz w posiadaniu koncernu Google znajdzie się aż 17 tysięcy należących do Motoroli patentów . To znacząco ułatwi sądowe batalie.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the US, the European Union and other jurisdictions, and the approval of Motorola Mobility’s stockholders. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2011 or early 2012.

No to wiadomość dnia. Aż dziwne, że nie będą chcieli zrobić rebrandingu. Może po prostu będą wypuszczać pojedyncze modele Google? 🙂
Sądzę, że Motorola ma na tyle duże uznanie, że na lepsze wyjdzie im potrzymanie jeszcze trochę ich brandu. Napis motorola pewnie będzie maleć, a GOOGLE rosnąć i zrobią to powoli. Youtuba przecież też przejęli,a nie zmienili go na GOOGLEvideos czy coś w tym stylu.

A według mnie to plus dla obu stron, bo motorola to znana marka, bardziej chyba niz Nexus. Teraz google będzie mogło tworzyc swoje produkty pod znana marką.
Google to chyba najbardziej rozpoznawalna marka na świecie – nie zdziwiłbym się, gdyby tak zaczęli nazywać swoje telefony w przyszłości.
