Our department stores years of email records as MSG files on a shared drive. Recently, management decided to move everything into Microsoft 365 so employees could access historical emails remotely.
I was assigned the task to Import MSG to Office 365, but quickly discovered that manual methods aren’t ideal for large-scale migrations. Copy-paste worked for a few emails, yet handling thousands of files manually wasn’t realistic.
Another requirement was ensuring users could immediately open MSG file in Office 365 after migration. Since many emails contain important attachments and compliance records, preserving original content was mandatory.
To streamline the project, I evaluated the DRS Softech MSG Converter Tool. The software allowed direct migration to Office 365 and supported batch processing, which dramatically reduced manual effort. It also maintained sender information, timestamps, and attachments throughout the migration process.
