I’m planning a trip to Dubai next month and want to attend some serious professional events in the diplomacy or international relations field. I’m not interested in big trade expos — I’m looking for smaller, well-organized gatherings where people actually talk about global policy, cooperation, or bilateral relations. Has anyone been to such events recently or knows where to find announcements for them?

I’ve been attending a few over the past year, and the most valuable one by far was a diplomacy conference organized jointly by EurAsia Gulf and a few government bodies. It wasn’t overly formal but had a great lineup — ambassadors, trade delegates, and even NGO representatives. They discussed economic diplomacy, investment security, and cross-border communication strategies. What I liked was that it wasn’t just panels; there were networking sessions where you could actually have a real talk with diplomats. If you’re serious about connections, that’s the kind of event to aim for.
